The Living Cornerstone, 1st Peter 2:4-8

1st Peter 2:4-8 ESV

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builder’s rejected has become the cornerstone” and “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobeyed the word as they were destined to do.

Who is the Living stone that is rejected by men and how is he chosen and precious in the sight of God?

In what ways are you like a living stone within the body of Christ?

What Old Testament passages are quoted in 1st Peter 2:4-8?

How is the living cornerstone a stone of stumbling and rock of offense to those who don’t believe the word?

How do feel about those that don’t believe in the word and disobey like they were destined to do and how do feel when you read John 3:16 along with this passage?

Close by having a time of prayer and then have a time of silence in order for you to hear what the LORD has to say in response to not only your prayer but also how you feel about this passage of scripture. List or write down anything that the Lord tells you.
