Psalm 16:1-2
Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.”
The above two verses from Psalm 16 should be in my prayers daily and along with the rest of this Psalm.
1. What does it mean for God to preserve you?
I will tell you what it means for me after I did some research using http://www.blueletterbible.com. I used the lexicon on the site which uses Strong’s Hebrew and Greek dictionary.
The Hebrew Word I found was: shamar in the King James Version it is translated preserve 21 times.
shamar means to keep, guard, observe and give heed.
These are the four things that We should daily ask God for in prayer:
To keep us.
To guard us.
The last two things to observe and give heed are required of us as we Seek and take refuge in God.
What this means to me:
1. God is the ONE who keeps and guards me.
How does HE do this?
1. He gives direction in the WORD for us to follow as well as through our daily relationship with Him.
2. Sometimes God protects us by telling us to go home a different route than we normally take. He protects us every day and if we would listen and obey HIM then we would realize HIS protection in our lives.
I need to be reminded often that I have nothing good apart from The LORD!
Hebrew Name for the LORD is Jehovah and Lord is Adonai meaning Master.
Questions to Ponder and consider:
1. Do we take refuge in JEHOVAH?
2. Is He our Master?
3. Do we submit to His Authority in our lives?
4. Do we believe that we have “no good thing apart from HIM?”
