There is one thing that I will never forget that the founding pastor, Paul Gordon, said multiple times from the pulpit and that is the following statement. “Don’t take my word for it, go read the Bible to find out what I am saying is true.” There is a passage that means so much to me and that is found below in Acts 17:10-11. What was Paul teaching the people in Berea, I believe he was teaching them Jesus was the promised Messiah and they examined the law and prophets which are the books of the old Testament and as a result many of them believed. What about you, dear readers?
Acts 17:10-11 for the context of this passage read all of chapter 17.
The brothers sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see whether the things were so. Therefore many of them believed, a long with a certain number of prominent Greek women and men.
What are you hearing from the pulpit that you have so eagerly, thoroughly examined and found to be true in your own lives? List them and discuss your testimonies of your journey of becoming a Berean of scripture with great eagerness to do so!
Dear Father,
May all your believers become eager to examine what they hear with what is written in the word and that may you get the glory from each of us as we get freed, equipped, get dirty in the trenches and extend your mercy and love to all those we find. Be willing to be humbled and tested in all things so that the King of Kings gets the glory! May we each become intentional about seeking Him and thoroughly examining His word especially after intense trials and battles , Don’t give up beloved people of the LORD come and renew your hearts and minds this day,Amen!
