Witnesses to Jesus, John 5:31-47

John 5:30 ESV

I can do nothing on my own. As I hear. I judge and my judgement is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

Read John 5:31-38 NLT

If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid. But someone else is also testifying about me, and I assure you that everything he says about me is true. Of course I have no need of human witnesses, but I say these things so you might be saved. John was like a burning and shining lamp and you were excited for a while about his message. But I have a greater witness than John-my teachings and my miracles. The Father gave me these works to accomplish and they prove that he sent me. And the Father who sent me has testified about me himself. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face, and you do not have his message within your hearts, because you do not believe me-the one sent to you.

In a dark stormy weather what does a Light House provide for those out at sea and how was John like a burning and shining lamp to those around him?

Give examples of how GOD the FATHER gave testimony to Jesus that He was sent by Himself and list both Old Testament and New Testament references.

Read John 5:39-47 and give a brief summary of what the main points of this passage is about.

Where do you place your hope or who do you have your trust in over the past two to three months?

What are the miracles in your own life that prove that Jesus is God?

Do you give God the credit for these miracles or do you place yourself on a pedestal called PRIDE and say that You are one or other people are the reasons for these miracles in your life?

Let’s close today’s session the Gospel of John with a time of giving thanks and prayer over the items that come into your mind as you’ve read or answered the Questions.
