Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John, ( although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), he left Judea and departed for Galilee. And he had to pass through Samaria.
Who did Jesus encounter along his journey to Galilee after leaving Judea?
Where was the woman from and why was it significant?
Was the woman a Jew or a Gentile and why is this important?
Did the Samaritans get along with the Jews according to this passage? Why or why not? Give examples from scripture?
What did Jesus ask of the woman and why?
What was the living water that Jesus to the woman as a gift?
What is symbolic of this living water?
Who does Jesus ask her go get and what was her response?
What does Jesus tell her next that made her think that he was a prophet?
List the places in which the Jews and the Samaritans?
Now, list all the reasons that you can think of what it means to “worship in spirit and in truth?
Read the following verse from John 4:22 and then discuss what this verse means to you personally?
John 4:22 ESV
You worship what you do not know, we worship what we know, for salvation comes from the Jews.
Do you think that this woman received her salvation, why or why not?
What about YOU?
What does she do after her conversation with Jesus?
Why were the disciples marveled at that Jesus spoke to the woman?
How do you think Jesus viewed and valued this woman?
What does this mean to you personally about how God views and values you?
How do you know? List all the scriptures that pop into your mind?
