Come and let us read the word together as we continue on our journey through the Gospel of John. Today’s portion of our journey is found in John 1:35-51 ESV . Feel free to read this portion in the KJV, NKJV, NASB, or the NIV.
John 1:35-38 ESV
The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples and he looked at Jesus as he passed by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” The two disciples heard him say this and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them and said to them, “What are you seeking? “
I think that God still asks this question to not only those that recognize Jesus as being the Christ but also to those who don’t believe especially when they see hope and peace being demonstrated through the ones who recognize Him. So let’s consider together this question. What are you seeking?
In other words Jesus is asking the disciples who were with John ” What are you attempting to receive or obtain from Jesus?
What do the two disciples that were with John recognize or call Jesus after He spoke that question?
Who did Andrew tell his brother ,Simon, that he found? What was Simon’s response?
What name did Jesus give Simon what what does it mean?
Now go back and read again John 1:43-51 and write a brief summary of what transpires in this section in your own words?
In what ways are you seeking for someone or something to fulfill the deepest desires of soul and list the ways that you have searched?
Read Jeremiah 29:12-14 and Matthew 7:7-11 and write out the ways in which the action of seeking will be satisfied and in whom you will find what your seeking?
Please close today’s session with a time of prayer and praise!
Until next post, Rejoice!
