1st Peter 5:1-4
I warn and counsel among you (the pastors and spiritual guides of the church) as a fellow elder and as an eyewitness [called to testify] of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a sharer in the glory (the honor and splendor) that is to be revealed (disclosed, unfolded). Tend ( nurture, guard, guide, and fold) the flock of God that is [your responsibility] , not by coericion or constraint, but willing ; not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and the profits [belonging to the office]; but eagerly and cheerfully; not domineering [as dictatorial and overbearing persons] over those in your charge, but being examples (patterns and models of Christian Living) to the flock (the congregation). And then when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror’s crown of glory.
Who is Peter addressing this passage of scripture to?
How does it relate to you personally?
In what capacity do you tend the flock of God that is within your responsibility ?
Have you ever been hurt by people in authority? Describe the circumstance if you answered yes. Now, go back right now and tell your concerns to the LORD and then forgive them and pray a blessing over them. Go back and read what you wrote then if it still brings up pain then ask the LORD why and if He tells you anything then Obey HIM.
Likewise have you ever used your authority to hurt someone, if so ask the LORD for forgiveness and ask what else He might require you to do as an act of obedience.
Close today’s session in 1st Peter in a time of prayer and wait for the LORD to speak to you and HE will.
