Read all of Chapter 17 one time through and then focus on 17:14-27 and go back and reflect on the answers for the first 13 verses of this chapter. Write down any thoughts about the whole chapter.
Read Jeremiah 17:14-18 and consider the following:
What is it that Jeremiah is praying for in these verses and don’t just write down the subject heading from your Bible. Block that out and if needed write out the passage on a separate sheet of paper, so you can just focus on those verses.
Did Jeremiah ever run from the calling which the LORD placed on him? Why?
How did Jeremiah face persecution, when He spoke the Words that were given to him?
Read Jeremiah 17:19-27 and consider the following:
What does it mean” to not bear a burden on the Sabbath day or to even bring a burden into the gates of Jerusalem”?
What does it mean, “to not carry a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath or doing any work”?
What did the Sabbath day mean to the people of Judah during Jeremiah’s time in history?
Think about your answers for the above three questions and consider what each one means today in your own life?
What were the consequences for the people of Judah did not hear and receive the instruction and then obey it?
What happens in your own life when you disobey the LORD?
Please close today’s session with a time of thanksgiving and prayer for all that you have received from the LORD today!
