Hebrews, 4:14-16


Read Hebrews 4:14-16 and then answer the following.

Write out the words or phrases that speak to your heart from the first time that you read this passage today.

What was the role of the High priest and when was it instituted by the Lord during the time of Moses? List the Biblical references for your answer.

How was the role of High priest established in the person of Jesus Christ both by physical and supernatural means? List Biblical evidence to support your answer.

In what ways has Jesus sympathized with our weaknesses and bore every temptation known to mankind yet did not sin? List scriptural evidence to substantiate your answer along with the references.

Think about your own weaknesses at this time in the light of Jesus Christ being the great High Priest and write out a prayer of Thanksgiving for what He has done for you.

Read Hebrews 4:16 in the Amplified Classic Edition below and list how we are to approach God’s throne.

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy (for our failures) and find grace to help in time of need [ appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

Why can we approach His throne boldly, with confidence and without fear?

Ponder these questions by seeking the LORD for what He wants to say to you through this passage and also note any specific new insight that you have been given.
