Malachi, 1:1-5

I will be using the ESV, Amplified Classic Edition and possibly the Message for this study of the Book of Malachi.

Read Malachi 1 in your favorite study and/or use the translations that I will be using.

Ponder for a few minutes on Malachi 1:1-5 and list the insight that you receive from the LORD about these verses and also how these verses could apply to you as a believer in the LORD.

Turn back to Genesis 25:19-34 and answer the following:

  1. Write down what the LORD told Rebekah about the babies she was carrying within her.

2. Write down the babies names below and give a brief summary of how the Word came to pass concerning the two children.

3. How did the two brothers end up separating from one another and what were their names changed to?

Now go back to Malachi 1:1-5 and answer the following:

  1. Why did the LORD love Jacob?

2. Why did the LORD hate Esau?

3.Where did the two brothers live in the land or to what country did they inhabit?

4. In what countries are the lands of the descendants of Esau and Jacob today?

How does the LORD make a distinction between those HE loved and those HE Judged?
