Prayer the Struggle

Prayer the struggle is real for many believers. There are many things that are trying to grab hold of individuals attention, myself included, away from the necessity of prayer both corporately and individually. The voice of our true enemy the devil is speaking loudly in many ears and many are listening to it as I am. I’m tired of allowing the enemy a foothold in my life in this way. I got up early before work this past week and prayed. It was earlier than I set my alarm clock but you know what the Lord provided the strength that I needed to get through my 28 hour work week. I got tired, over-heated, and lost momentum but I knew that the LORD was with me.

While I hear the enemy saying things like the following:

  1. Stop praying.
  2. Stop reading the Bible.
  3. Stop listening to worship music.
  4. Stop going to church or turn off the Church service.
  5. Stop blogging is a big one.

Guess what the LORD showed that the repetition of hearing all of it was causing me to loose peace, joy, and hope. It is causing the church here in America to be lukewarm and not unified. The Lord spoke to me a portion of scripture and that is this:

1st Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of Christ Jesus for you.

What does pray without ceasing look like in your life right now?

What does give thanks in all circumstances look like for you right now?

What does rejoice always look like in your life right now?

Do you recognize the voice of the LORD from that of the enemy?

If you are struggling with any or or all the above commands from this verse, know this. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE.

Make the following commitment to do the following:

  1. Set aside time to pray when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed.
  2. If you live alone and the Lord prompts you to pray with someone ; call them up or meet with them.
  3. If you live with others especially in families, or other believers get together and pray out loud for one another.
  4. Whenever possible through out the day pray.
