Read Isaiah 3:1-12 ESV and summarize what will happen.
Think about the time frame that Isaiah lived in and refer back to the list of kings of Judah. Think about how the Medes-Persian , the Babylonian and the Roman Empire conquered, displaced or held all of Israel captive.
How many times did God remove their leaders from them down through History and list current situation with them now.
In verse 12 it says, ” O my People! Your leaders lead you astray and confuse the direction of your paths.” He was talking to Israel at this time but this also speaks to the Christ followers of today.
In what ways down through the centuries have people been lead astray by its leaders (Teachers-Prophets-Elders).
Reflect on the following passages:
- Hebrews 3:10
- 2nd Peter 2:15
- Deuteronomy 4:19
- 1 John 3:7
Now, list others passages that come to mind about the warnings and consequences of leading people astray from the LORD.
Dear Lord,
Keep us ever mindful of how we teach, preach and lead our lives. May we know your Word so well that we will not be lead astray.
