1st Corinthians 4: 15-17 ESV
For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus. I urge you then, be imitators of me. That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in the church.
Philippians 3:17 ESV
Brothers join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.
Philippians 4:9 ESV
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me – practice these things and the God of peace will be with you.
2nd Thessalonians ESV
For you know yourselves how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you an example in us to imitate.
2nd Timothy 3:10-11 ESV
You however have followed in my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, my sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra-which I endured, yet from them all the Lord rescued me.
What does it mean to IMITATE CHRIST. The definition of imitate is as follows from the http://www.merriam-webster.com
1. to follow as a pattern, model, or example
2. to be or appear like: resemble
3. to produce a copy of: reproduction
So, as a Christian we are to do everything the above definition says as we follow Christ’s model and example. To be like Christ we must yield to His direction for our live so that as we go through sufferings others will see what we are going through and ask us how do we do it. Then we get the chance to tell them how we get through everything by Jesus Christ and when they get saved they have become a copy of Christ.
I will leave you with one more scripture to ponder and this one you will have to look up on your own. Ponder: 2nd Timothy 1:1-18
