Resting In His Promises

Today as I sit contemplating what to write today about my journey with God, I’m being reminded by the Holy Spirit to rest in HIS promises. It is all to easy for me to cop-out and begin to doubt and fear and there in lies the challenge and test of faith for me this week. I am at times recognizing that the battles with fear and doubt have intensified as I pursue the things that the LORD is putting before me. I know my first response is that I need to pray and pray fervently about the situations that arise through out my day and not latch on to my normal safety zones. This means that I need to avail myself of all opportunities to be discipled and to grow in the LORD. Some of the scriptures that I have been reminded of are the following:

Colossians Chapter 2 the whole chapter and here are some of the highlights that have struck me.

1. I have received the promise of new life so I need to walk in the life of Christ.

2. Be rooted and grounded in my faith in Christ. I need to allow my roots to grow deep in the Lord and to continue to be united with Christ with an unrelenting passion for HIS truth.

THE WARNINGS

1. Let no one and nothing take me into captivity through philosophy and empty deceit whether by traditions of men whose teachings are from demons.

What this means to me is that each time a thoughts of doubt and fear come against I need to pray against these things and latch onto God’s WORD and Pray both in the Spirit and in the natural. For the Battle is the Lord’s and He will see me through it victoriously.

This Reminds of 2nd Kings 6:8-23

In this Elisha asks The LORD to open the eyes of his servant to see who is with them in the battle. Elisha’s servant was afraid but Elisha told him in verse 16 “Do not fear for those who with us are greater than those of our enemies.” Think about how many people who are alive and on the earth today. Think about how many people believe in Jesus Christ from those that walked the earth from the creation of mankind to the present time. All those who have gone before us and then add the angels and God HIMSELF WHO MAKES INTERCESSION ON OUR BEHALF. That is definitely an army that out weighs our adversary the devil and his minions.

So the next time either you begin to think that we are all alone in our battles remember JESUS THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORDS HAS THE LAST WORD.
