Do you believe to see or do you see to believe? This is the question I am asking myself and you today. There have been times in my life where I have felt like the disciple Thomas that “seeing is believing.” Haven’t we all been there a time or two. Let’s look at the Word to see what it says about Thomas.
John 20:26-30 NASB
After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving but believing.” Thomas answered and said to Him, “my Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they that do not see me and yet believed.”
Let’s Think about this passage for a moment. How many of us have a revelation of Christ is in this way? There is a song that we did in Children’s church today that comes to my mind. The song comes from Zechariah 4:6.
It’s not by might. It’s not by power. It’s by My Spirit says the Lord.
This song and verse remind that it is nothing in my own ability that can make me believe that Christ is God but rather it is the revelation of Christ is done by the work of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit has his reign in our lives we can have that moves mountains because God moves on our behalf.
How awesome is that?
