Psalm 37:1-4 NKJ
Do not fret because of evil doers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass
And wither as green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land,
And feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desire of your heart.
The first thought that came to my mind when I read this a few minutes ago was that there is a list of commands in this Psalm and I am going to tackle them one by one.
Do Not Fret in my definition of the word fret is “being consumed with fear and worry so much so that it is the only thing you think and talk about.” What verse one says to me is “DO NOT BE CONSUMED WITH FEAR AND WORRY BECAUSE OF THE EVIL OF MANKIND” I have to say that for several years I was stuck in the past dwelling on the deeds of wickedness but by the grace of God I wake up everyday with Praise God on my mind.
Nor Be Envious of the evil doers LETS FACE IT! We would all like to be wealthy right. We would all like to have the best there is not matter what it costs us, right? After all, we “deserve it” right? The Word says not to be envious or jealous of them. If you are always thinking about what you could have had when you were young or you want to have the best in life. What happens in the heart is that place of reverence for God is being replaced by whatever you desire in your heart.
Trust in the Lord The Lord knows our hearts better than anyone. He knows our needs even before we voice them to Him. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ or if you are in a hard place in your life. Know that the Lord loves for who you are. He created you and He can be trusted.
Notice The Word says,” Trust in the Lord” first before “do good”. We are to trust in Him and then obey Him when tells us to do.
Dwell in the Land We are to live here on this earth but we are to be “salt and Light” to everyone we come into contact with.
Feed on His Faithfulness Look back and see what all The Lord has brought you through. You will realize like I have that God is faithful and because of His faithfulness in the past I know He will be faithful to see me through all my circumstances.
Delight yourself in the Lord Worship the Lord through Dance, Singing , Music, Writing , art and even exercising.
He will give you the desires of your heart.
